The Department of Chemistry offers four programs of study in the field of chemistry. The Professional Chemistry major is the most rigorous program and is approved by the American Chemical Society. It prepares students for graduate work, including medical and dental school, or a career in the chemical industry. It can be earned with or without the cooperative education option. The Biochemistry major prepares students for a career in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as well as graduate or medical school. The Basic Chemistry major is appropriate for students who seek to combine chemistry with other areas of study. The Chemistry-Business Administration major prepares students for a career in chemical-related business and provides advantages over the study of either chemistry or business alone.
