The Department now has a new ThermoFinnigan TSQ Quantum Ultra Mass Spectrometer . This is a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (MS) interfaced to a ThermoFinnigan Surveyor high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) system, and is capable of performing LC-MS analysis. The instrument was financed through a NOAA grant written by Drs. Kaufman, Batema and Hochwender (Biology) with support from the Kresge Foundation Science Initiative Challenge Grant.
